Improving The Speed Of Your Older Computer Is Not As Difficult As You Might Think

The fact that you have an older computer and it has begun to slow down may have you considering purchasing a new one. You may be able to save yourself some cash when you perform some maintenance steps to improve the speed of your old PC.

Computers are great tools when they are running effectively. But, nothing can not only slow down your productivity but frustrate you as well as a system that you have to wait on.

The answer to fixing your computers issues with speed will depend upon the root cause. If it is slow to boot up will require different fixes than if it is slow to open programs or to browse the internet.

The following are general fixes you can use to improve the speed of your computer.

To improve the boot time of your PC you can disable many programs that start up automatically. Do you really want or need the IM client running at startup? What about those media programs? Why not turn them off you can always fire them up when you need them? Doing this will not only improve the time it takes for your PC to startup it will improve the overall performance of it as well.

Removing large files and programs you don’t need or use will free up hard drive space. When you run the Disk Defragmenter utility it will reorganize your computers hard drive helping to improve the speed of your system as well.
