What Are The Causes Of Slow Computers And How Can You Speed Them Up

When you bought your computer and set it up at home it was responsive and quick when you turned it on and just used it in general. Over time you may have noticed that it is not as responsive and may lag and be sluggish. There are many things that can cause this lack of performance.

To begin you need to try to determine why your PC has slowed down. Is it slow to boot up? Do applications slowdown and become unstable? Exactly where are you experiencing the slowness? The answers to these questions can help narrow down the root cause and allow you to use the solutions that best address the issues that your computer is facing.

If you are experiencing most of all of the above issues it could indicate that your computers registry is fragmented. The registry is the database where all the important information about your computers operating system, hardware and software is stored. It includes user and personal settings as well. It is critical that the registry is functional for your computer to run well. In fact, your computer would not be able to run at all if it were not for the registry. The importance of this file cannot be over stressed. You have to be very careful when you make or changes entries to this database.

You can get problems in the registry when you add and remove software. If you remove software it may remove critical information that is used by another program or device if it was shared. If this is the case you can usually remove or uninstall the hardware or software and reinstall it to fix the issue. Other options are to use a registry cleaning utility.
