Speed up your Windows XP Computer

If you maintain your Windows XP computer it will not degrade over time and slow down. While you might take you computer into a professional you can perform all these procedures on your own. It is easy to either improve your computers performance or to keep it running smoothly. You can save money by doing the routine maintenance procedures and not have to upgrade your system or pay expensive IT professional fees.

Begin by cleaning up the system registry. Before you begin you need to back up the registry. There is free software you can download that will scan the registry for errors and provide you with a list of recommendations of modifications you need to make or automatically correct the errors. Problems occur in the registry when information is misplaced or orphaned. These entries can not only slow down your computer but cause error messages to popup or even crash your computer.

Having a good anti-virus software running on your system is also important. Malware including spyware, adware and viruses all can cause damage to your computer ranging from overall slowness to data loss to complete system failure. Software that prevents infestions is critical to have running but you also need to scan your system for existing issues and be able to remove them as well.

It does not take a lot of time or money to improve your computers speed. If you keep up the maintenance schedule you will be rewarded for your efforts.
